Meet the fabulous Senorita!
Senorita (aka Rita Pita) is a brown female chihuahua on the search for her forever home! Senorita was reported to be 8-9 years old upon intake, however, based upon her energy level and playfulness, it is believed that Senorita is quite a bit younger than that– possibly around 4 years old. Senorita weighs seven pounds.
Senorita is full of chihuahua personality – playful, curious, loyal, and wants to be the center of your world. She is slow to gain trust but when she does, she will become your shadow. She follows her foster mom around the house and stays in step with her when walking outside in the fenced-in backyard. She would be ok as an only dog or would be fine with a companion dog. She loves to run around with toys, paper and socks! She did not have a good start in life, so she’s been learning that she doesn’t have to be afraid of being picked up, that people aren’t scary, and that she doesn’t have to mark her food bowl or dog bed. She has come a long way in the time she’s been with her foster mom!
Senorita is trained to potty outdoors if taken out regularly and usually uses a pee pad in the home if not taken out when she has to go. She is food motivated but if she gets scared, she will run and hide instead of taking a treat. She dances for her food, spins, sits and does well with walking on a leash. Her foster mom continues to work on getting her used to being picked up and gaining confidence through food puzzles, regular walks in the neighborhood, and agility jumps.
Senorita has a habit of jumping up on her person’s legs when she is excited, which her foster is also working on. Because of her jumping she would be best in a home without small children. Her perfect home would be patient and understanding of her fears and willing to go slowly building trust. A fairly quiet home with a good routine would be best. Because she is a fearful dog, she is considered a flight risk so her home should be wary of door darting, she should always be buckled in the vehicle and should have a tracker on her collar. So if you are ready for a tail-wagging smiling chi who will bring you so much love and happiness once bonded, she’s your girl.
Senorita has been fully vetted and she is up to date on her vaccinations. Senorita was spayed and had a dental cleaning in July. She will be microchipped prior to adoption. Senorita is heartworm negative and takes monthly heartworm prevention. Senorita had an umbilical hernia that was repaired in July when she was spayed. She also had a mammary tumor removed in July.
Senorita’s adoption donation is $300.

An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled.
Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative.
Reference checks and a home visit are required so our southeast dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.
