Introducing adorable Roxy and Rocco. We love these sweet puppies and know you are going to fall in love too. These two puppies are bonded littermates and we would like to find a forever home where they can grow up together.
In mid-June, CRT was contacted about helping a family who was breeding Chihuahuas. The man was ill and was in the hospital. His family had checked in on the latest litter and found them covered with fleas and not doing well. The family immediately reached out for help. Thanks to our amazing volunteer team, CRT was able to get them transported the two hours to the Dallas area. We put them into CRT foster homes, gave them flea baths, got them to the vet, and began their journey. The puppies from this litter are Madeline, Roxy, Rocco, Rocket (approved application) and Lylia (approved application). All five puppies are thriving in their foster homes. They have completed their vet work and are ready for adoption.
Roxy and Rocco get along with other small dogs in their foster home. They are both fascinated with their foster siblings and follow them everywhere. Roxy and Rocco both have a lot of energy and love to run and play with each other. They will also cuddle together for naps. And they both love toys of all kinds. They hope their new family has a big toy budget!
Roxy and Rocco love going outside and exploring the yard. They love their outdoor playing time (supervised!). They will chase each other through the yard and play hide and seek. And they love sunbathing next to you as you drink your morning coffee. Note that they are small and therefore will always need their human nearby while they are out (there are instances where hawks or large birds will swoop down and pick up small dogs under 5 pounds, so you will want to be there to protect them). We also want to emphasize that your fence must be very secure. Roxy is so tiny that she can easily slip under the smallest opening in a fence, so she will need to be in a home with a solid, wooden fenced yard. Both of them love to run and explore, so their home will need to be secure in all aspects. They can also be a door darter, so your front door area should be inforced to stop potential escapes (they love to explore and they are fast – they can be out the door in a flash).
Roxy and Rocco adore their humans. She is a little shy when she first meets you, but warms up quickly. She loves to cuddle and will climb into your lap for snuggles and puppy kisses. Rocco is a little more outgoing and wants to be your BFF. They will both follow you around the house to see what you are working on. Whatever it is, they want to be a part of it. Note that they are very active and love to be right by your feet, so could be a tripping hazard! We are working on this with them.
Roxy and Rocco are about 4 1/2 months old (as of mid-September). Roxy is 5.7 pounds and Rocco is 9.6 pounds. Roxy has a beautiful white coat with black and tan highlights. We love the black and tan mask on her face. Rocco has a beautiful white coat with light tan highlights. We love the patch over his left eye. And we love their ears!
Roxy and Rocco are very smart. They are puppies and are learning every day. They have both done well on their potty training. Roxy and Rocco have learned to go potty outside and also will use the PeePee pads in their foster home. They taught themselves to use the doggy door and are now experts at using it often! At night, Roxy and Rocco sleep in a doggie bed in a small confined area. We have recently completed their vaccinations and are just beginning to work with them on a harness and leash.
The ideal home for Roxy and Rocco would be one with high energy. These puppies are very bonded and we would like to adopt them out together. Applications will not be considered where they would be separated. Due to their small size, we do not recommend large dogs as a companion with them. Roxy and Rocco need a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). They do alert when they are playing, but they both settle down fairly quickly. Roxy and Rocco are growing up with a 14 year old human sister and adore her. Due to their small size and shyness, we recommend a home with older, mature children (8 and older). Because of their high energy level, we do not think they are a good fit for an apartment.
If you are looking for joyful, fun loving puppies who loves everyone and everything – Roxy and Rocco would love to be a part of your family.
Roxy and Rocco are being fostered in the DFW (Texas) area. If these sweet puppies sound like the right fit for your home, our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/
Roxy and Rocco are spayed/neutered, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative. and on heartworm prevention. Their vetwork is completed and they are ready for adoption. We are taking applications now.
These dogs are a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $700.00 adoption donation is required ($350 per puppy). Due to the high cost of vetting, we cannot offer a discount when adopting two.
As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.
After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
