Meet one of the newest CRT puppies – Marie! This little cutie is brave and loves adventure. She is affectionate and will easily win your heart with her charm and sweet nature!
In mid-June, the Arlington Animal Shelter was called to a home where there were over 40 Chihuahuas. As they began to remove Chihuahuas from the home, they took a tiny 4 week old puppy that needed help. The Arlington Animal Shelter reached out to CRT to see if we could bring her into our CRT program, get her vet work completed, and help her find her forever home. We were happy to help. We named her Marie. She has just completed her 2nd round of vaccinations. Marie will complete her vet work in late August and will be available for adoption the first week of September. We are accepting applications now.
Marie is a fun and playful puppy! She loves the other small dogs in her foster home. Marie loves to run and tumble with her siblings. She also loves to race with them in the house. She takes her time exploring new areas of the house. Marie LOVES toys. Her favorites are squeaky toys and the crinkly toys. She is so good natured and fun!
Marie loves going outside and exploring the yard. Note that Marie is small and therefore will always need her human nearby while she is out (there are instances where hawks or large birds will swoop down and pick up small dogs under 5 pounds, so you will want to be there to protect Marie). We also want to emphasize that your fence must be very secure. Marie is so tiny that she can easily slip under the smallest opening in a fence, so she will need to be in a home with a solid, wooden fenced yard. Marie loves to run and explore, so her home will need to be secure in all aspects. Marie can be a door darter, so her forever home will want to have a protective barrier around the front door.
Marie adores her family. She is very friendly. We think she is one of the sweetest puppies we have had. She loves to cuddle and she will snuggle with you for hours. If you enjoy relaxing TV time at night, Marie wants to climb up into your lap and cuddle! She loves to be up against you, sharing your love. Marie sticks close to you and will follow you from room to room. Note that she can be a tripping hazard. She is also super fast, so her family will want to ensure there is a safe barrier at the front door so she does not dash out and begin to explore the neighborhood!
Marie is about 3 months old (as of the end of July). She is 4.4 pounds and will grow another 1-2 pounds. Marie has a beautiful white coat with tan highlights. We love her ears. She is adorable.
The ideal home for Marie would be one with high energy. She would love to have another young dog (maybe 1-4 years) to play with. Applications will not be considered where she would be the only dog. Due to her small size, we do not recommend large dogs as a companion with Marie. Marie needs a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). Marie is fairly quiet. Marie is growing up with a 10 year old human sister and adores her. Due to her small size and shyness, we recommend a home with older, mature children (10 and older).
Marie is very smart. She is a puppy and is learning every day. Marie has done well on her potty training. She has learned to go potty outside and also will use the PeePee pads in her foster home. At night, Marie sleeps in a doggie bed inside of an ex-pen or crate. Due to her vaccination status, we have not begun to leash train her. Once we complete her shots, we will put a harness on her and begin to teach her how to walk on a leash.
Marie is being fostered in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) area. Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/
Marie will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. Her vetwork will be completed in late August and she will be ready for adoption the first week of September. We are taking applications now.
This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $350.00 adoption donation required.
As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.
