Introducing adorable Madeline. This little girl is loving and enthusiastic about life.
In mid-June, CRT was contacted about helping a family who was breeding Chihuahuas. The man was ill and was in the hospital. His family had checked in on the latest litter and found them covered with fleas and not doing well. The family immediately reached out for help. Thanks to our amazing volunteer team, CRT was able to get them transported the two hours to the Dallas area. We put them into CRT foster homes, gave them flea baths, got them to the vet, and began their journey. The puppies from this litter are Madeline, Roxy, Rocco, Rocket (approved application) and Lylia (approved application). All five puppies are thriving in their foster homes. They will complete their vet work the last week of August and be ready for adoption the first week of September.
Madeline gets along with other small dogs in her foster home. She has a lot of energy and loves to run and play with them. She also loves to cuddle with them. Madeline loves toys of all kinds. She loves squeaky toys and chew bones. She will play with squeaky toys for hours. Madeline will take all of the toys out of the toy box every day and keep toys in each room so there is always one to play with!
Madeline loves going outside and exploring the yard. Note that Madeline is small and therefore will always need her human nearby while she is out (there are instances where hawks or large birds will swoop down and pick up small dogs under 5 pounds, so you will want to be there to protect Madeline). We also want to emphasize that your fence must be very secure. Madeline is so tiny that she can easily slip under the smallest opening in a fence, so she will need to be in a home with a solid, wooden fenced yard. Madeline loves to run and explore, so her home will need to be secure in all aspects. She can also be a door darter, so your front door area should be inforced to stop potential escapes (she loves to explore and she is fast – she can be out the door in a flash).
Madeline adores her humans. Madeline has an outgoing personality and adores everyone she meets. Her tail is constantly wagging and she is so happy to be around you. She loves to cuddle. This little girl is a velcro dog with her humans. She loves to follow you around the house to see what you are working on. Whatever it is, she wants to be a part of it. Note that she is very active and loves to be right by your feet, so could be a tripping hazard! And she definitely wants to be on your lap while you watch TV in the evenings. She has a “busy” personality so she will get on your lap to cuddle, then jump down to play with toys, then jump back up for more cuddling! Oh how we love her.
Madeline is about 3 months old (as of the end of July). She is 4.4 pounds and will grow another 1-2 pounds. Madeline has a beautiful white coat with tan highlights. She also has the cutest face and ears. We love the reddish brown “mask” on her face.
Madeline is very smart. She is a puppy and is learning every day. Madeline has done well on her potty training. She has learned to go potty outside and also will use the PeePee pads in her foster home. At night, Madeline sleeps in a doggie bed inside of an ex-pen or crate. Due to her vaccination status, we have not begun to leash train her. Once we complete her shots, we will put a harness on her and begin to teach her how to walk on a leash.
The ideal home for Madeline would be one with high energy. She would love to have another young dog (maybe 1-3 years) to play with. Applications will not be considered where she would be the only dog. Due to her small size, we do not recommend large dogs as a companion with Madeline. Madeline needs a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). She does alert when she hears noises but settles down fairly quickly. Due to this alerting and her high energy levels, we are not sure how well she would do in an apartment. Madeline is growing up with a 10 year old human sister and adores her. Due to her small size and shyness, we recommend a home with older, mature children (10 and older).
If you are looking for a joyful, fun loving dog who loves everyone and everything – Madeline is your girl!
