Levi is a senior Chihuahua mix, possibly with Boston Terrier and Pug lineage, who is enjoying his golden years in the most laid-back way possible. At 13 pounds, he is a true couch potato who prefers to sleep and be left alone—unless food is involved. When mealtime arrives, he will eagerly gallop into the kitchen, proving that nothing motivates him quite like a good meal.
Levi has a shy yet sweet-natured personality, with a streak of stubbornness. He avoids coming out when strangers are in the house and absolutely despises going outside. If taken out, he will do everything in his power to get back to the door as quickly as possible. However, he does enjoy gentle chin scratches and, while not a lap dog, he likes to be close, often making sure he is touching his person when sitting together. His most heartwarming trait is the way he greets his loved ones at the door, barking and wiggling with excitement, even after just a short absence.
Medically, Levi has a serious heart murmur and collapsing trachea, which require careful management. He is also overweight, and while weight control is important, his vet has advised against too much exercise due to his heart condition and blood pressure concerns. He takes heart and blood pressure medications, as well as cough medicine twice daily, and occasionally coughs in the morning or when he is too active.
Levi gets along well with both dogs and cats, though he mostly ignores them unless they come too close to his food, at which point he will warn them off without aggression. Levi is a sweet little old man who wants nothing more than good food, a comfortable place to rest, and a loving presence nearby. He may be independent and reserved, but his loyalty and gentle companionship make him a truly special companion.
