Introducing adorable Dolly. Dolly is a tri-colored Chihuahua. She is sweet and a pure joy to be around. You are about to fall in love!
Dolly was a surrender from a family in Garland TX (a suburb of Dallas). They had been breeding Chihuahuas and were overwhelmed. The family found themselves with over 15 Chihuahuas, and had them all living in the backyard. These were in danger in the Texas heat. Poor things were covered with fleas and had really long nails when we got them. To date, CRT has rescued five Chihuahuas from the home, and are working on the rest. Dolly was the Mom of three puppies – Freckles, Sundae and Toby – 2 girls and 1 boy. She is done nursing, has completed her vet work, and is now ready for adoption.
Dolly gets along with other dogs (both small and large) in her foster home. She has a lot of energy and loves to run and play with them. She also loves to cuddle with them. Dolly enjoys playing in the yard. She enjoys running and does zoomies every day! Dolly also loves toys of all kinds. She is fascinated with squeaky toys and chew bones. Her favorite is a rope toy which she uses to play tug-of-war. She plays for hours at this game!
Dolly is very intelligent. She learns very quickly and wants to please her family. She is also very curious. Her foster family has enjoyed watching her confidence grow as she explores the world around her.
Dolly is a little shy when she first meets you. She was not getting a lot of attention in her first home, so she is just learning what it means to be an indoor dog and be part of a family. But she is a lover. Dolly loves to snuggle with her humans. She is adorable in all aspects and wants to be your best friend! She loves to follow you around the house to see what you are working on. Whatever it is, she wants to be a part of it. Note that Dolly is very active and loves to be right by your feet, so could be a tripping hazard! And she definitely wants to be on your lap while you watch TV in the evenings.
Dolly is about 2 years old. She weighs 8 pounds and is fully grown. Dolly has a beautiful tri-color coat. And we love her ears! She is truly stunning.
Dolly is working on her potty training and is almost there. She goes potty outside and has also learned to use pee pee pads. There is a doggy door in her foster home and she has learned to use that when her foster family is around to supervise. She currently sleeps in a soft dog bed. We think she would love sleeping with her family if you would like her to. We have begun to teach her how to walk on a harness and leash and she is doing well.
The ideal home for Dolly would be one that is fun and active. She would love to have another small, young dog to play with. She is quiet, and would make a great work from home office buddy. She is growing up with teenagers and does well with them. Due to her shy nature, we would recommend a home with older, mature children (10 and older).
