Oreo is a male chi estimated to be about 6 years old. He weighs 8 lbs and, as you can see, is colored just like an Oreo cookie! Oreo has a long story, and if you stick around long enough to hear it, you’ll realize he’s really worth all the love CRT can give him. Oreo is not a social, outgoing dog and never likely will be, but he’s sweet and deserves a lot of love!
Oreo came from an irresponsible backyard breeder where he lived outdoors and had no socialization. He came into rescue with a bad skin infection, and would defecate from fright if anyone came near. He’s come so far in the year and a half he has been with his foster family, but he still has his quirks that have made it imperative that his foster family be his for as long as he needs them!
His foster mom and dad successfully weaned him from the corner he lived/hid in, and watched as he gradually integrated himself into the household. Small, tiny baby steps the entire way, Oreo now freely roams the downstairs, timidly goes upstairs- but only for brief periods of time, and is trying his best to walk out the front dooron his own to leash walk with the other dogs in the pack, but still isn’t quite there yet as he finds the unfenced world a scary place. He freely goes outside in the fenced backyard, and will jump up on the couch to take a nap. His favorite place is a dog bed, the blanket on the couch, or in the backyard in the sunshine.
