Meet Lily and Rio!
Rio and Lily are a bonded pair that joined CRT When their mom was no longer able to care for them. You see, their daddy had Parkinson’s and his ongoing care was making it increasingly difficult for both her and these pups. Rio is a black and white male, approximately 8 years old and all of 6 pounds. Lily is a 10-12 year old little lady, all of 4.5 lbs, with the wonkiest set of rear legs ever.
Rio had a huge mass removed from his foot two weeks ago, which he’s still healing from. That being said, he’s a VERY easy little boy that just loves people and wants as much attention as he can get. He will bark at new dogs for a day or two, but then acclimates to them. Unfortunately the mass on his foot was a low grade cancer and we did not get full margins at the time of surgery, but it is an incredibly slow grower that should hopefully not come back and doesn’t typically spread. Rio will be foster to adopt status for a few months until we know if the growth comes right back. Should the growth come back, we will have to amputate the impacted toe which should cure him. Rio also has a grade 3/6 heart murmur, for which he takes Pimbendan daily.
Lily is a toothless wonder that is convinced she can still chew on bones. She adores laying close by her humans, though so far she hasn’t been a snuggler with her foster mom. Foster mom states that Lily has come a LONG way since she joined her home. Lily’s signature walk is due to her knee caps never being in joint, and aside from some pain which is handled by meds, she’s an active little girl that doesn’t let it slow her down. Lily does get 50 mg of gabapentin a day for pain, but otherwise is another happy camper. She is a candidate for adequan if needed, but right now seems to be doing fine with just the gabapentin which she eats right from her bowl at dinner time.
Both kiddos are pee pad trained and adore going outside. They do need stairs or ramps to climb on the furniture or beds, but will happily spend the entire night sleeping right next to you.
As previously mentioned, Lily and Rio are a bonded pair, so they must be adopted out together. Their adoption donation is $550.
