Introducing adorable Lori. This girl has a gentle and loving spirit and is looking for a forever family to share her life with
In late January, CRT received an emergency request from a Good Samaritan to help with a Mom Chihuahua and her puppy that they had found dumped in the rural area near Gunter TX (just outside of Dallas). These Chihuahuas had obviously been abandoned and left to die in the woods. There were no houses for miles around. These little dogs were friendly but dirty, thin and hungry. They needed immediate help just to survive. The Good Samaritans scooped them up, took them home and kept them safe. They reached out to CRT and we immediately agreed to bring them into our program. We are so happy to have this girl with us.
Lori gets along with other small dogs in her foster home. She enjoys spending time with her foster siblings and will just hang around. She tries to initiate play, but her siblings are seniors and not very interested – LOL. So instead she will play at their pace. Then she will cuddle up with them in a dog bed and just hang with them throughout the day. Lori has not shown much interest in toys to date. She loves treats and is very gentle when she takes them from you.
Lori has an outgoing and friendly personality and just wants to love you. She wants to be everywhere her family is. Lori will climb up on your lap and will cuddle for hours. She loves belly rubs and will give you kisses to show her affection. Note that she is very active and loves to be right by your feet, so could be a tripping hazard! We are working with her on this habit, but it is very important for her adopting family to know this.
As Lori continues to grow up and gain confidence, it is likely that she will be the social chairman in your home. She is adorable in all aspects and wants to be your best friend! Lori has an outgoing personality. Her tail is constantly wagging and she is so happy to be around you. She loves to follow you around the house to see what you are working on. Whatever it is, she wants to be a part of it.
Our vet estimates that Lori is about 2 years old. She currently weighs about 7.9 pounds and is completely grown. Lori has a white coat with reddish tan highlights. Her ears will perk up when you call her name. Her eyes are beautiful.
Lori has done well with her potty training, but we are still working on this. She will potty on washable, indoor potty pads and she will also go outside to potty. She does have occasional accidents that can be easily managed. At night, she sleeps in a doggy bed right next to the family bed. Lately she has been sneaking up on the family bed as the lights go out, because she loves to cuddle so much. Oh it is adorable. She is a great little sleeper! We are just starting to work with her on a harness and a leash.
The ideal home for Lori would be one with high to moderate energy. She would love to have another young dog (maybe 1-3 years) to play with. But we think she would also make a great only dog as long as her family is around to give her a lot of attention. Lori needs a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). She is fairly quiet, even when the other dogs are alerting at the UPS delivery person! There are no children in her foster home, but she is a friendly little girl. She has enjoyed meeting children at our “meet and greets” and we think she would do well with with older, mature children (10 and older).
